Human-AI Teaming

FlexTech International Industrial Spring School

May 29-31, 2024 - Biarritz, France

HSI is requires the convergence of several disciplines that include systems engineering (SE), human factors and ergonomics (HFE), human-computer interaction (HCI), and artificial intelligence (AI).

HSI is investigated from various perspectives, such as safety, sustainability, and social issues (and others).

HSI is at the intersection of technology, organization, and people, within specific environments.

HAT will be analyzed from an HSI point of view considering real-world cases.

HAT design and management requires operational scenarios that could serve as a basis for such analysis.

HAT awareness also requires the definition of metrics such as trust, collaobration, and operational performance.

Human Systems Integration (HSI)

Human-AI Teaming (HAT)

The FlexTech Chair is a research program launched in 2019 by CentraleSupélec (Université Paris Saclay) and the ESTIA Institute of Technology. Its philosophy is based on human-centered design (HCD) and creativity, collaborative work, cognitive engineering, complexity analysis, organizational design and management, human-in-the-loop modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence, advanced interaction media, and the study of life-critical systems. HCD combined with Systems Engineering leads to Human Systems Integration (HSI).

We automated a great deal during the 20th century, which increased safety, efficiency, and comfort in nominal situations but led to a certain rigidity in non-nominal situations. It's time to develop research and innovation on flexibility, which increases the autonomy of technology, organizations, and people. It's the transition from HighTech to FlexTech.

The mission of the FlexTech Chair is to develop human potential through research, invention, education, and community interaction to advance best practices in human-centered design. This improves human systems integration of complex life-critical systems
